The ABC “American Bird Conservancy” collaborated with Anthony by connecting him with Dr. Roberto Carlos Almazán Núñez, a dedicated conservationist who’s focuses on preserving the Short-crested Coquette. Dr. Roberto said, “Thank you very much. Your photographs and videos are incredible. Undoubtedly, it is a valuable contribution to share with the world and highlight the value of conservation with this hummingbird.”

One of the rarest and most spectacular hummingbirds in Mexico, found only in a small area of mountainous woodlands, is the focus of an ambitious conservation project that includes ABC, the Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero (Autonomous University of Guerrero), and local communities, as well as Mexico’s National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas, or CONANP).
In this documentary produced by the Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero, you'll see beautiful images of the coquette and its habitat, and learn how strong community involvement and government support are helping to protect this Critically Endangered species.
