José Luis was born in the beautiful city of Cusco and began his career at the renowned Tambopata National Reserve and the expansive Bahuaja Sonene National Park, where he had the opportunity to train as a naturalist and worked diligently as a resident guide. During this time, he honed his bird guiding skills extensively in Tambopata National Reserve as well as in the biodiverse Manu National Park, training with the well-known ornithologists Paul Donahue and Teresa Wood. Over the last four years, José Luis has traveled extensively and guided in many of Peru’s most well-known and varied bird habitats, and in addition to that, he has also been guiding in Brazil, Bolivia, and Colombia, broadening his experience and expertise in avian ecology.
José Luis specializes in providing exceptional natural history and birding tours, but he is also a highly respected and certified guide in culture and history. His extensive knowledge covers a wide range of topics, including the rich traditions and significant events of various cultures. Additionally, he possesses deep expertise in Inca archeology and the fascinating history that surrounds this ancient civilization.
He has successfully graduated as an Official Tourism Guide, having completed extensive studies in Tourism while in Peru.
